Virginia Falls

St. Mary (right) and Virginia Falls (left) are along a pleasant, easy hike that begins along Going-to-the-Sun Road in the St. Mary Valley of Glacier National Park. The trail includes both dramatic falls above as well as an unnamed cascade in between that alone is worth the trip. It also climbs gently through a lush green forest full of beautiful vegetation and excellent birding.

Once you reach the end of the trail you'll find 50 foot Virginia Falls. This amazing waterfall has multiple layers and perspectives to shoot from. The clear turquoise water, colorful rocks and lush green forest make for an exceptionally photogenic scene.

This is a popular trail due to the spectacular destination and relatively easy trail, so it's best to start early in the morning to ensure parking, or take the free shuttles to the trail head.

Virginia Falls images were shot with a Sony A7II, Canon 17-40mm f4 lens while mounted on a Gitzo tripod.
